MacArthur Announces District-Wide Reading Challenge
Washington, D.C. - Congressman Tom MacArthur today announced that his office will be conducting a district-wide reading challenge to encourage students to read three books by March 17th to receive an official Congressional Certificate.
“With so many distractions and commitments facing kids these days, a focus on reading is incredibly important and I want to challenge the kids in NJ's 3rd Congressional District to start the school year off right,” said Congressman Tom MacArthur. “A love of reading can improve our ability to think critically, enhance our vocabulary and make us better writers. I know firsthand that it can be hard to carve out time in your day, so I’ll be joining you on this journey and reading along with you. I’ll announce my books at the end of the challenge and hopefully get some great suggestions from our young constituents.”
Participating students will need to read three books by March 17th to qualify and provide a summary of what they learned from each book. To enter, district residents should go to https://macarthur.house.gov/about/district-reading-challenge, and fill out the entry form with a parent. The challenge will close on March 17th and Congressional Certificates will be mailed shortly after.
